[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. Hey, welcome to the Summer Journey podcast with Haven and Ella. Hey, guys. Welcome back to the podcast. We're so excited to have you. So today I have a little special guest. I'll do a little drum roll. Ready? [00:00:28] Speaker B: And it's Judah Wade. [00:00:31] Speaker A: Hel. [00:00:31] Speaker B: Hello, everybody. [00:00:32] Speaker A: Judah. Wade. Okay, so this is Judah's first time on the pod, but I know he's gonna do great. [00:00:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:00:40] Speaker A: So, Judah, what was last week's code word? [00:00:43] Speaker B: It was. Drumroll, please. Excitement, excitement, excited. [00:00:53] Speaker A: Just any kind of. If you got that, if you wrote it in your notes, we're proud of you. We're glad you got it. Yeah. It was actually pretty hard to get. [00:01:04] Speaker B: Checking it in your notebooks. [00:01:06] Speaker A: Yes. [00:01:06] Speaker B: And so we are talking about how David sinned and he was restored. [00:01:12] Speaker A: So let's get right into it. Yeah. Okay. [00:01:15] Speaker B: So David was walking on the roof of his palace one night and saw a beautiful woman. [00:01:23] Speaker A: Judah, have you ever seen the most beautiful woman? [00:01:28] Speaker B: Maybe my mom or my sister, you. [00:01:31] Speaker A: Know. [00:01:33] Speaker B: Maybe my grandma's so sweet. My aunt, you know? [00:01:40] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. [00:01:42] Speaker B: And then David asked the woman who. The woman was a servant. Told him, that is Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah. Even though she was someone else's wife, David sent a messenger to get her and bring him to her. [00:01:57] Speaker A: Yeah. And so when David found out that Bathsheba was pregnant with his baby, he wanted her to be his wife, but she was already married. So David. He made a plan to kill her husband, Uriah. Right. He. He really, really wanted her to be his wife. So he came up. He. Like, have you ever seen, like, where people have, like, the sticks in the sand and they, like. It's almost like a treasure hunt. Like, they're like, okay, this is plan. This plan. I almost vision it as that. Like, he had a plan, and he was. He. He had his eye on the. On the prize. Like, he. He was set on his plan. [00:02:38] Speaker B: Y. James. One of those James Bond movies. Yeah. They're like, okay, let's go do this. And then everybody's like, ah. And so then David wrote a letter to Joab and told him to put Uriah at the front line so Uriah could be easily killed. But Joab obeyed King David, and Uriah died. David took Bathsheba to be his wife. David sinned in secret, but the Lord knew the evil that David had done. So that was pretty big. [00:03:18] Speaker A: You know, it was. [00:03:20] Speaker B: It's like, whenever the Lord knows you've sinned, it's kind of like, you know, have you ever done something in secret? Like, probably like, steal A cookie from. [00:03:30] Speaker A: The cookie jar when your mom's not looking. Yeah. And like, you. [00:03:34] Speaker B: And you eat it in secret over your brother's bed, your brother or sister's. [00:03:39] Speaker A: Bed, tiptoe into the kitchen, grab it. [00:03:42] Speaker B: And then all the crumbs are over your brother's bed. And like, you know, you. You lie to your mother saying, yeah, yeah, yeah, he. [00:03:49] Speaker A: He was. He was so secret that nobody else knew. But God is all knowing. He knew. God knew. [00:03:55] Speaker B: He's omnipotent and all knowing. [00:03:59] Speaker A: Good. Yes, that is good. And then the Lord sent Nathan to David. Nathan told David a story. He said, there was a rich man and a poor man. The rich man held had lots of sheep, but the poor man had just one lamb that he loved. When the rich man needed a lamb to prepare a meal, he took the lamb from the poor man rather than using a lamb from his own flock. Wow. Yeah. Like, come on, man. Come on. What are you doing? Okay. [00:04:30] Speaker B: David was extremely angry with the rich man in the story, saying that he deserved to die. But then Nathan replied, you decided to take the life of Uriah because you wanted his wife, Bathsheba. You have now done evil. [00:04:48] Speaker A: Yeah. He was like, dude, you're the. You're the rich man in this story. He's like, do you not under. Like, you're the rich man in this story? That's why I'm telling you this story. Yeah, it's just. It's cool. Or it's interesting how he was so angry at the rich man. But it was him. Yeah, it was him. It's same or different story? Same plot. Same plot. Yeah. [00:05:15] Speaker B: And so David responded, I have sent against the Lord. And then Nathan replied, the Lord has taken away your sin. You will not die. Then David wrote a song to God. Be gracious to me, God. Wash away my guilt and cleanse me from my sin. Against you alone I have sinned. So you are the right. When you judge. So, like, yeah, he. He is the right judge. [00:05:43] Speaker A: He is just. Yeah, he. [00:05:45] Speaker B: He knows what to take from our sin, what for us to do. Like one of those guys with the curlers in their hair that had the curlers all the time, and they're like, oh, oh, no. Oh, no. So we cannot hide from our sin. These are just some of the points. But we cannot hide from our sin but God. We cannot hide from our. We cannot hide from God. David tried to hide his sin from everyone but the Lord. Lord knew he had done evil. So that we are human, so that we sin and we are not righteous with God. [00:06:32] Speaker A: Yeah, that's really good. And there's also nowhere where we can go away from God's love and care. Right. Even when we sin, he shows his mercy and his grace on us every single time. Because we are sinners and we need a Savior. Another point from the story is that God is faithful to forgive us when we bring our sin before Him. Right. David recognized his sin and the Lord was gracious to forgive him. He. Right. After hearing that story from. From Nathan, he realized, right. Nathan, or God sent Nathan to David as a messenger. Almost. Right. [00:07:16] Speaker B: And so God's personal mailman. [00:07:19] Speaker A: Yeah, literally. And so. Right. So David convicted David. He recognizes sin, and the Lord again shows his. His grace and his mercy. He showed that to him. Right. David. David was scared to confess, confess his sins to God because he was scared of the consequences. But God showed his grace and his mercy. Yeah. Okay. Well, thank you, Judah, for helping us out. Thankful for you. Yeah, we'll see you GU guys next week. Bye. Bye. Bye.
