[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
[00:00:05] Speaker B: Hey, welcome to the Summer Journey podcast with Haven and Ella.
[00:00:16] Speaker A: Hey, guys.
[00:00:17] Speaker B: Hey.
[00:00:18] Speaker A: Welcome back.
Sadly, teardrops from my eye.
This is our last podcast together.
[00:00:27] Speaker B: Number 11, final podcast.
[00:00:30] Speaker A: So sad. We've had so much fun doing these and talking to you guys about it.
But before we get started, what was our.
Oh, we also have our last code word.
[00:00:41] Speaker B: I know.
[00:00:41] Speaker A: We won't be able to tell them what it is.
Yeah, it's gonna be a mystery.
[00:00:46] Speaker B: A mystery you'll never know.
[00:00:48] Speaker A: But what was last week's code word?
[00:00:50] Speaker B: Last week's code word was wisdom.
[00:00:57] Speaker A: Wisdom. Yeah. So if you got that, good job. Proud of you.
Okay. And last week we talked about Solomon becoming king, right? And today we're talking about Solomon and how he built the temple.
[00:01:10] Speaker B: Yes.
So Solomon had been king for about four years now, and then he began to build the temple for the Lord. And God said to Solomon, if you obey my commandment, I will fulfill my promise to you that I made to your father David. I will dwell with my people and not abandon them.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: So the ark of the Lord's covenant would be in the innermost part of the temple. So Solomon overlaid everything in this part of the temple with pure gold.
[00:01:40] Speaker B: So Solomon gathered all of Israel to bring the Ark of the Lord's covenant into the temple to the most holy place.
When the priests came out of the holy place, the glory of the Lord filled the temple. Solomon said, I have built an ex.
And I have built an exalted temple for you, God. I place for you to live forever.
[00:02:04] Speaker A: And then King Solomon blessed all of Israel, saying, the Lord has fulfilled what he promised, and I have built the temple for the name of the Lord. The. The God of Israel.
And then after this, after he blessed all of Israel, he.
He prayed to God. Solomon prayed to God. And this is what he said. He said, lord God of Israel, there is no God like you. You have kept what you promised to my father, David. But will God live on earth? Even the highest heaven cannot contain you.
That's good.
Much less this temple I've built. Please, please hear the prayer of your people when they pray towards this place. May you hear in your dwelling place in heaven and an answer when your people sin against you. For there is no one who does not sin. When they return to you with all their heart and all their soul, May you forgive your people who sinned against you, and may you grant them compassion.
That's good. It is good. That's good.
[00:03:04] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:03:06] Speaker A: Yes.
So.
So going back to where Solomon had built the temple, we. We know that God loves his people.
The people then and the people now. Us people.
[00:03:27] Speaker B: Yeah, us people.
[00:03:29] Speaker A: Because he promised to dwell with his people and to not abandon them. So he dwelled among them through the temple. But now if you fast forward to now, we know that he kept his promise, even to us, because he dwells within us with. Through the Holy Spirit.
[00:03:47] Speaker B: Right. I think it's cool to think about because he referenced David, and it was like he promised David that he would never abandon them. But also, I'm pretty sure David was the one who wanted to build the temple, and God said, wait, and build them houses first.
And then he. Because he had a plan for Solomon, which I think is really cool.
[00:04:07] Speaker A: Yeah, just generations.
[00:04:09] Speaker B: Yeah, generations.
[00:04:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:13] Speaker B: And then so just like earlier in the podcast, like, way in the beginning, we talked about, like, gifts and stuff. And so, like, this is a key example of how God gives us gifts to be able to glorify Him. Like, he got together architects and all these people would say, could just build this temple and glorify the Lord through it. Which is really cool because it's like, any gift you're given, like, God's gonna use that.
[00:04:40] Speaker A: Yeah, it's really good.
God also showed compassion towards the people, towards the sinners.
[00:04:48] Speaker B: Right.
[00:04:49] Speaker A: They would go into the temple and pray to God, ask for forgiveness. They would do off, like, they would offer.
[00:04:58] Speaker B: They would give offerings.
[00:04:59] Speaker A: Yeah, they give offerings to the Lord, but they also praised God and worshiped him in this in the temple. But they.
They were sinful people.
Right.
And God, he showed compassion by forgiving them of their sins.
[00:05:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:05:20] Speaker A: Okay. And. Yeah, that's basically the whole story.
[00:05:28] Speaker B: What was your. What was something that stood out to you?
[00:05:33] Speaker A: Okay, My favorite part is probably the prayer.
[00:05:38] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:05:40] Speaker A: Like, just, like, you can almost like.
Like you can see his heart behind it and just, like, how much he loves God, but also how much he loves his people.
[00:05:57] Speaker B: Big lover, that guy.
[00:06:03] Speaker A: What about you?
[00:06:05] Speaker B: I just liked how this whole story kind of, like, pulls together all the pieces we've been previously talking about in the podcast, like, how, like, David, he kept his promise. The Lord kept his promise to David, and David became king. And then David's son Solomon then became king after that through David. And then, like, how.
Wait. Like, God told David to wait, and he was, like, faithful through that because God's plan could go through all of this. And so it was just like. And then God gave Solomon the wisdom to, like, pray about and, like, say that prayer and have, like, the knowledge and stuff. And it's just, like, crazy. Like, the gifts that were used. It just, like, kind of brings everything together, and it's like, it's reassuring because it's like God's plan will happen. We just don't know when. We just have to, like, faithfully wait.
[00:06:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
Yeah, that's good. Okay. And we'll leave you guys with a question before we go.
What are some ways God has specifically shown you that he loves you?
[00:07:14] Speaker B: That's a good question.
[00:07:15] Speaker A: That is a good one. That's a cute one, too.
[00:07:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:20] Speaker A: Okay. And you guys can write that in your books.
We'll. We'll see it. We can see it, right?
[00:07:27] Speaker B: Yeah. Because.
[00:07:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:07:29] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:30] Speaker A: Or you can talk to us about it. We'd love to hear your answers. And you can even ask us our answer to the question.
Yeah. Okay. Well, you had so much fun last. Goodbye.
No, I don't want to say goodbye. This is going to be a 24 hour.
[00:07:49] Speaker B: You know what? This podcast never ends.
[00:07:54] Speaker A: Well.
We love you all.
[00:07:57] Speaker B: Yes. If you see us around, say hi.
Okay.
[00:08:04] Speaker A: Bye.
[00:08:04] Speaker B: After all, Croc.
